PUBLIC NOTICE:

The White Mountain Apache Housing Authority (WMAHA) is announcing its intention to apply to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Indian Community Development Block Grant funds authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (ICDBG-CARES). ICDBG-CARES funds are being offered non-competitively through the HUD Office of Native American Programs and must be used to prevent, prepare for, or respond to the current pandemic of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).  WMAHA is eligible to apply for up to $3,000,000.00 in ICDBG-CARES funds and plans to use these funds to build four homes in Cibecue and four homes in McNary to be used as temporary housing for coronavirus quarantine, as needed, as well as to alleviate overcrowding and homelessness.  If funding is available, WMAHA will also use a portion of the grant to support public services like food distribution, rental and utility assistance, and other emergency assistance related to COVID-19.  Applications are being accepted by HUD starting on June 1, 2020.

Community members are invited to review and comment on WMAHA’s proposed use of ICDBG-CARES funds at www.wmahousingauthority.org until Thursday, May 28, 2020.  Written comments may also be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on May 28 to Marvin Burnette at White Mountain Apache Housing Authority, P.O. Box 1270, Whiteriver, AZ, 85941, by phone at (928)338-4831, or by email at mburnette@wmaha.us.
